Privacy Policy

What we collect when you use Golf League HQ, who can see it, and how to control it.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Golf League HQ (the "Service"), available at golfleaguehq.app and related apps.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. Name, email address, phone number (optional), and password (handled securely via our authentication provider) when you create an account.

Golf and league data. Handicap index, scores, hole-by-hole statistics (if you opt into Golf-IQ), team and pairing assignments, tee preferences, league membership and role (player, secretary, commissioner), and related activity within leagues you join.

Payment information. If you or your league pay for a subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly, and we retain only what's needed to manage your subscription (such as plan tier and billing status).

Communications. Announcements, Trash Talk messages, and other in-app messages you send are stored and visible to relevant league members.

Device and usage information. IP address, browser/device type, and general usage data (such as which features you use), collected automatically to help us operate and improve the Service.

Location information. If you enable location-based features (such as course lookup), we may access approximate location with your permission. We do not track your real-time location for any other purpose.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the Service (scoring, standings, pairings, scheduling, payments)
  • Communicate with you (round reminders, pairing notifications, announcements, dues reminders, support)
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Service
  • Improve and develop new features
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Who Can See Your Information

Other league members. Depending on your league's settings and your role, other members of your league(s) may see your name, handicap, scores, and league activity. Commissioners and secretaries may have additional visibility for administrative purposes (e.g., dues status, roster management).

Golf-IQ detail. Per-hole performance detail (fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts, etc.) is private to you by default and is not visible to other league members, including commissioners, unless you choose to share it.

Service providers. We share information with third parties who help us operate the Service, including:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Supabase — database and authentication hosting
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Web Push (VAPID) — push notifications
  • GolfCourseAPI — course and tee data lookup

These providers are contractually restricted from using your information for anything other than providing services to us.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GLHQ, our users, or others.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

  • Access and update your profile information within the app
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of non-essential push and email notifications through your notification settings
  • Control who can see your Golf-IQ detail

If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific data protection laws (such as the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA), you may have additional rights — contact us and we will accommodate applicable legal requirements.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy with a new "Last updated" date, and, where appropriate, by direct notice (email or in-app).
