Golf League HQ gives league managers tools for posting announcements and sending supported notifications.

Overview

Commissioners and Secretaries can use announcements to communicate league information such as:

• Schedule changes
• Rainouts
• League reminders
• Special events
• Rule reminders
• Commissioner updates

Golf League HQ also sends supported notifications for certain league actions.

Before You Begin

Use announcements for information that should be visible as part of the league experience.

For urgent or time-sensitive communication, consider whether your league also needs its normal direct communication method.

Create an Announcement

1. Open Announcements

Navigate to the league announcement-management area.

2. Create the announcement

Enter the announcement content.

Keep the most important information near the beginning.

3. Choose the appropriate announcement options

Use the available controls for the announcement, including pinned behavior when applicable.

4. Publish

Save or publish the announcement so it becomes available to league members.

Pinned Announcements

Pinned announcements receive additional prominence.

When the applicable league and platform email settings are enabled, pinning an announcement can also trigger email delivery to league members.

Edit an Announcement

Commissioners and Secretaries can update existing announcements when information changes.

If the change is significant or time-sensitive, make sure players understand that the announcement has been updated.

Delete an Announcement

Managers can delete announcements that are no longer needed.

Use deletion carefully for information players may still need to reference.

Read State

The current announcement experience does not provide commissioners with a reliable per-player read-receipt system.

Do not assume that every golfer has seen an announcement simply because it was published.

League Email Settings

Commissioners can configure supported email behavior from League Settings.

Golf League HQ includes settings and actions related to league email delivery, including test-email functionality.

Use a test message when you need to confirm that the configured email path is operating.

Other League Notifications

Golf League HQ may send notifications for supported actions such as:

• Pairing publication
• Score finalization
• Substitute activity
• Announcements
• Other league workflow events

The exact notification depends on the action and current email configuration.

Pairing Notifications

The Publish Pairings action can send pairing-related notifications.

Remember that Publish Pairings is not the technical visibility boundary for pairings.

Use it as the commissioner workflow and notification step.

Substitute Communication

Substitute-related email may direct golfers back into Golf League HQ.

Because the current player experience does not include a complete accept/decline workflow, commissioners should confirm participation using the communication method their league relies on.

Rainouts and Urgent Changes

For weather or last-minute changes:

1. Update the appropriate round information
2. Post an announcement if useful
3. Use the league's normal urgent communication method when needed

Don't rely on an announcement alone if players need immediate confirmation.

Best Practices

Put the action first

Instead of:

Weather update for tonight

prefer something like:

Tonight's round is cancelled due to weather.

Then provide the details.

Keep one announcement focused

Separate unrelated topics when players may need to find the information later.

Don't assume delivery equals awareness

Even when an email is sent successfully, the golfer may not have read it.

Use test email during setup

Verify email behavior before you depend on it for an important league-night message.
