Live Scoring Management

Commissioners and Secretaries can manage scoring while a round is underway.

That includes viewing group scorecards, entering or correcting scores, unlocking verified cards, and resolving scoring discrepancies.

Overview

League managers can use Golf League HQ to:

• View scorecards across the round
• Enter or override scores
• Review verified cards
• Unlock scorecards
• Work with disputed scorecards
• Resolve scanned-score discrepancies
• Monitor incomplete scoring
• Help players when scoring problems occur

Commissioners should use these controls carefully because they can change official round data.

Before You Begin

Before editing a player's scorecard, determine:

• Which round is affected
• Which player or team is affected
• Whether the card is still open
• Whether it has already been verified
• Whether an opponent has approved or disputed it
• Whether the issue is score entry, synchronization, or verification

View Scorecards

Managers can review scorecards across the round rather than being limited to their own playing group.

Use this view to monitor scoring progress and identify cards that need attention.

Enter or Correct Scores

Commissioners and Secretaries can enter or override scores when necessary.

Use score corrections when:

• A player entered the wrong value
• A score failed to sync
• A scoring discrepancy has been confirmed
• League management needs to correct the official card

Verified Scorecards

When a player selects Verify Scores, the card moves into the verification workflow.

If opponent approval is required, the paired golfer can approve or dispute the scorecard.

A verified or disputed card may need commissioner or secretary intervention if a correction is required.

Unlock a Scorecard

Commissioners can unlock a verified, opponent-approved, or disputed scorecard. The unlock control is currently commissioner-only — Secretaries do not see it.

Unlocking resets the scorecard back to an editable state.

Use this when a confirmed correction needs to be made after verification.

After the correction:

1. Review the changed score
2. Make sure the card is complete
3. Have the appropriate verification process occur again

Disputed Scorecards

If a player disputes a scorecard, managers can review the discrepancy.

Use the scorecard information and league rules to determine what needs to be corrected.

If necessary, unlock the card, make the correction, and restart verification.

Scanned Score Discrepancies

Golf League HQ includes discrepancy handling for scanned-score information.

When scanned information differs from the existing scorecard, managers can review the discrepancy and choose how to resolve it.

The current discrepancy workflow includes an option to use the scanned information.

Review the full discrepancy carefully before replacing official scoring values.

Secretary Scoring View

Secretaries have a dedicated scoring-management experience for supported match and team situations.

This allows the Secretary role to help manage scoring without requiring commissioner access.

Incomplete Scorecards

A round can technically be moved to Completed without Golf League HQ first confirming that every scorecard is complete.

Commissioners should therefore review scoring before completing the round.

Offline Scoring

Golf League HQ supports offline score entry for players.

When a player's device is offline, scores can be queued and synchronized when connectivity returns.

If a score appears to be missing during league play, consider whether the golfer still has unsynced entries.

Handicap Recalculation and Offline Scores

Commissioners should be aware that the current offline score-sync path does not perform every downstream handicap calculation that occurs during a normal online scoring save.

If a handicap result appears inconsistent after offline scoring, review the player's round and handicap state before finalizing league results.

Handicap Data Requirements

Some handicap-related calculations rely on course rating and slope.

If required course or tee information is missing, downstream handicap calculations may not be available.

Complete the Round

Before completing the round, use this checklist:

1. Review incomplete cards
2. Resolve disputes
3. Correct known score errors
4. Confirm verified results where applicable
5. Complete the round
6. Recalculate standings

Best Practices

Avoid unnecessary score overrides

Use management edits for confirmed corrections, not convenience.

Unlock only when needed

A verified card should remain locked unless there is a genuine correction to make.

Resolve disputes before standings

Don't recalculate standings from results you already know are under review.

Watch for offline scoring

A temporary missing score may simply be waiting to sync.

Can a Secretary edit scores?

Yes.

Can a Commissioner unlock a verified scorecard?

Yes. Unlocking is currently limited to Commissioners.

What does unlocking do?

It resets the card's current verification/approval state so it can be edited again.

Can I complete a round with incomplete scorecards?

The current completion action does not automatically validate that every expected scorecard is complete. Review the cards first.

What should I do with a disputed card?

Review the discrepancy, unlock the card if a correction is needed, correct the result, and complete the verification process again.

What if a golfer scored while offline?

Their entries may be queued for synchronization. Confirm the device has reconnected and the scores have synced.

Why might a handicap not update after offline scoring?

The current offline synchronization path does not run every downstream handicap-update step used by normal online score entry.
