Commissioner Guide
Results & Standings
Complete rounds, review gross and net results, recalculate standings, and manage skins and special-hole winners.
Results & Standings
After league play finishes, the commissioner's job isn't quite done.
Golf League HQ gives you tools to review results, complete the round, recalculate standings, and manage side competitions such as skins and special-hole contests.
Overview
Post-round management can include:
- Reviewing gross scores
- Reviewing net scores
- Completing the round
- Recalculating standings
- Reviewing skins
- Recording special-hole winners
- Reviewing the Live Leaderboard
- Correcting unresolved score issues
The most important workflow to remember is:
Completing a round does not automatically recalculate standings.
Before You Begin
Before finalizing results, confirm:
- Expected scorecards are present
- Major scoring discrepancies are resolved
- Verified cards have completed the appropriate workflow
- Handicap information is available where required
- The round should actually be marked Completed
Gross Score
Gross score is the player's actual scored total before handicap adjustment.
Golf League HQ records gross scoring from the scorecard.
Net Score
For handicap-adjusted scoring, Golf League HQ applies the player's handicap and league allowance.
The current implemented calculation follows:
Net = Gross − (Handicap Used × Handicap Allowance %) / 100
The player-facing result may also display handicap-adjusted +/- information.
Complete the Round
When scoring is ready, move the round to Completed.
The completion action changes the round's status and triggers the applicable finalized-score notification behavior.
Recalculate Standings
After the round results are ready:
Open Standings
Navigate to the league standings management area.
Review the results
Confirm the round data you're expecting is ready to count.
Select Recalculate
Run the standings recalculation.
Golf League HQ refreshes the standings from the available qualifying results.
When to Recalculate
Recalculate standings after:
- A round is finalized
- A scoring correction changes results
- A previously disputed card is resolved
- Handicap-related changes affect qualifying results
Avoid recalculating while you already know important scoring data is unresolved.
Standings Freshness
Golf League HQ stores a standings recalculation timestamp internally, but the current player-facing standings experience does not prominently surface a staleness indicator.
That makes the commissioner workflow important.
If you're unsure, run Recalculate after the round is settled.
Skins
Golf League HQ supports gross and net skins.
The skins pot is based on the configured buy-in and participating golfers, and winnings are divided according to the skins earned.
Skins are recalculated from the available scoring data.
Finalizing Skins
The current skins workflow does not include a separate permanent lock/finalize action.
That means scoring changes can affect calculated skins later.
Before announcing or paying results, make sure the underlying round scores are settled.
Special-Hole Contests
Golf League HQ supports special-hole results such as Closest to the Pin.
Commissioners can record winners for applicable special holes.
Review winners carefully before treating those results as final.
Closest to the Pin
CTP contests can be created for applicable holes, including the par-3 setup used during round creation.
Commissioners select the winner through the management interface.
Last Group
Golf League HQ includes commissioner controls associated with special-hole and last-group operations where applicable.
Use these according to your league's competition rules.
Live Leaderboard
The Live Leaderboard provides real-time round standings while golfers are still playing.
That live view is different from the season standings recalculation process.
Think of them as:
- Live Leaderboard — what's happening in this round right now.
- Standings — cumulative league competition after recalculation.
Result Corrections
If a score changes after results were reviewed:
- Correct the scorecard
- Complete verification as needed
- Review skins/special-hole impact
- Run Recalculate for standings
Best Practices
Don't announce standings before recalculating
Make Recalculate the final commissioner action before sharing updated standings.
Resolve scoring first
Don't build official results on top of cards you already know are disputed.
Review skins before payout
Because skins are derived from live scoring data, settle the underlying scores before treating payouts as final.
Record special-hole winners carefully
The system provides the management tools, but the commissioner remains responsible for confirming the golfer actually won the contest.
Common Questions
Do standings update automatically?
No. Use Recalculate.
Does completing a round refresh standings?
No.
What is the net-score formula?
Golf League HQ applies the player's handicap used and league handicap allowance to the gross score.
Can standings change after a correction?
Yes. Correct the result and run Recalculate again.
Are skins permanently locked after the round?
The current workflow does not provide a separate final lock for skins.
What's the difference between the Live Leaderboard and Standings?
The Live Leaderboard follows the current round in real time. Standings represent the broader league competition and require recalculation.
Should I pay skins before score issues are resolved?
No. Settle the official scores first.
